What Happens in the 7 Days After You Accept a YouTube Owner Invite

You paid and the Google invitation arrived. Here's exactly what happens next, day by day, until you're the channel's Primary owner.

You've paid for an aged channel and the owner invitation is on its way. This guide walks through what happens next, day by day — based on hundreds of real transfers. If you'd rather see it, the real screenshots of every step are on the How it works page.

Day 0 — the invitation

Usually within hours of payment, Google emails the account you chose at checkout. It comes from google-my-business-noreply@google.com and the subject reads “… invited you to own <channel>”. Open it while signed in to that same Google account and press Accept invitation.

  • No email? Check Spam and the Promotions tab first.
  • Several Google accounts in one browser? Check the avatar in the top-right corner before accepting — accepting from the wrong account is the most common hiccup.
  • Still nothing — write in your order chat and we resend the invitation.

Days 0–7 — Google's security hold

The moment you accept, you are an Owner of the channel's Brand Account. You can upload, edit, rename and rebrand the channel and invite your own managers straight away.

What waits is Primary ownership. Google makes every new owner wait 7 days before primary ownership can move to them. The hold exists to stop account takeovers, and it protects you as much as anyone.

Good things to do during the week: turn on 2-Step Verification for your Google account, rename the channel and change the handle, picture and banner, and decide what to do with the old videos — keep, hide or delete.

Day 7 — Primary owner

When the hold ends we make you the Primary owner and remove ourselves. Google sends a “Your access has changed” email, and in the channel's Brand Account permissions you'll see your account marked Primary owner — with nobody you don't know in the list.

After the handover

  • Add a second Google account you control as a backup owner.
  • Review who has manager access and remove anything you don't recognise.
  • Keep your order chat — it's the full record of your transfer.

When something goes wrong

Real cases from our order chats (you can read some of them on the reviews page):

  • “I entered the wrong email” — we send a fresh invitation to the right address, usually within minutes.
  • “My Gmail got disabled” — we move the transfer to a new Google account you give us.
  • “The invite expired” — invitations can be resent at any time before the handover is complete.

Frequently asked

Can I upload videos during the 7-day hold?+

Yes. As an Owner you can use the channel fully; only primary ownership waits for the hold to end.

Does the channel keep its registration date?+

Yes. The “Joined” date never changes, whatever you rename the channel to.

Do I ever need the seller's password?+

No. Everything moves through YouTube's own Brand Account permissions — no logins are shared.
