Why Bought YouTube Channels Get Disabled — and How to Avoid It
Most 'disabled after purchase' stories have one cause: buying the login instead of the channel. Here's what Google flags and how a Brand Account transfer avoids it.
If you've bought a YouTube channel before and lost it within days, you're not alone. Almost every one of those stories has the same root cause: the seller handed over the Google account's email and password, not the channel.
Why Google disables bought logins
Google protects accounts by watching how they're used. A login that suddenly appears from a new country, a new device and a new network — often right after the password and recovery details were changed — looks exactly like a stolen account. Google's systems react the way they should for a stolen account: they lock it, ask for verification the buyer can't pass, or disable it.
- New country and device on an account with years of history in another place.
- Recovery email and phone changed right after that first login.
- Password changes in quick succession, often several logins from different IPs.
- The original owner still has access to old recovery options and can take it back.
What to buy instead: the channel, not the login
A YouTube channel can live inside a Brand Account — a separate account that several people can manage. Brand Accounts have an official way to change hands: the current owner invites a new person as owner, and after Google's waiting period that person becomes the Primary owner and removes the old one.
With a Brand Account transfer you never sign in to someone else's Google account. You keep using your own Gmail, with your own password and 2FA — so there is nothing unusual for Google to flag.
How the transfer works on LegacyChannels
- 1You pay and tell us which Gmail should receive the channel.
- 2We send the official YouTube owner invitation to that Gmail; you accept it.
- 3Google holds new owners for 7 days — a security measure, not a delay on our side.
- 4After the hold, you're made Primary owner and the seller is removed.
The day-by-day version, with screenshots, is in What happens in the 7 days after you accept the invite. The full process is on How it works.
Red flags when buying elsewhere
- The seller sends email + password + backup codes instead of an owner invite.
- You're asked to log in through a proxy or an 'anti-detect' browser.
- No waiting period is mentioned — real ownership transfers always have one.
- No replacement or refund if the transfer fails.
Frequently asked
Can Google disable a channel transferred through a Brand Account?+
Not because of the transfer itself — it's Google's own feature. A channel can still be restricted later for its content or for breaking YouTube's rules, so run it like any other channel.
Do I need a new Gmail for the channel?+
No. Use the Gmail you already use every day. That's actually the safest option.
What if the transfer doesn't go through?+
If a channel can't be transferred as described, we replace it or refund you.
