Price by registration year
| Year | For sale | Median | From | Up to |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2005 | 6 | $47 | $35 | $87 |
| 2006 | 90 | $19 | $10 | $125 |
| 2007 | 150 | $15 | $10 | $479 |
| 2008 | 178 | $15 | $10 | $169 |
| 2009 | 60 | $17 | $10 | $89 |
| 2010 | 6 | $84 | $45 | $109 |
| 2011 | 10 | $82 | $29 | $129 |
| 2012 | 7 | $69 | $49 | $99 |
Two things stand out. 2005 channels are scarce — six in stock — and hold a premium as YouTube's first-year accounts. And 2010–2012 channels carry higher medians than 2007–2009 not because they're older, but because the ones that come up for sale tend to have more subscribers and views. Subscribers move the price most
| Subscribers | For sale | Median price |
|---|---|---|
| Under 100 | 343 | $15 |
| 100–999 | 145 | $59 |
| 1,000–9,999 | 16 | $112 |
| 10,000+ | 3 | $159 |
Two out of three aged channels have fewer than 100 subscribers — these are the budget picks where you're paying for the registration date and handle. Past 1,000 subscribers stock gets thin: only 4% of listings. See them on YouTube channels with 1,000+ subscribers.
Advanced features roughly triple the price
Channels with YouTube's Advanced features unlocked (custom thumbnails, external links, live streaming) have a median of $49, against $15 without. They're 16% of stock. What Advanced features are.
Long-form history is the norm
91% of aged channels have a long-form upload history; only 5% are Shorts-only — unsurprising, since Shorts didn't exist when these channels were active.
What this means if you're buying
- Need the age and a handle, not an audience? A $10–20 channel from 2007–2009 is the best value. Start with cheap aged channels.
- Want a head start on the Partner Program's 1,000-subscriber threshold? Budget $60–150.
- Want streaming and custom thumbnails from day one? Filter for Advanced features.
- Compare any channel with its year's median — every channel page now shows it.
