How to Monetize a YouTube Channel You Bought

A bought channel gives you age, a handle and history. Monetization is a separate step that depends on YouTube's review — here's how it works after a transfer.

The YouTube Partner Program thresholds

• 1,000 subscribers, and
• 4,000 public watch hours in the last 12 months, or 10 million public Shorts views in the last 90 days,
• plus following YouTube's monetization policies, living in an available region, 2-Step Verification on, and an AdSense account.

Aged channels often have the subscribers but rarely have recent watch hours — those come from what you upload after the transfer.

If the channel was already monetized

Payouts go to the AdSense account linked in YouTube Studio. After the transfer you link your own AdSense account; the previous owner's account is never part of the deal.
